Multicam Operator Pre-flight Checklist

perform this checklist prior to running a multicam CNC

Setup

  • Stock Size accurate to material
  • Correct WCS offset
  • Origin Location
  • Model Position within stock

Tools

  • Correct tool choices?
  • All tool numbers registered in machine
  • All tools measured

Toolpath strategies

Optimal ordering

  1. Is clearing followed by finishing?
  2. Vertical finishing Followed by flat finishing?
  3. Tool Changes Minimized

Feeds and speed (use Compare and edit)

  1. Feed per tooth within safe range?
  2. Spindle speed appropriate for material?

Heights

  1. All heights above Wasteboard?
  2. Max Z doesn’t exceed gantry?

Passes and Linking

  1. Machining Times aren't excessive?
  2. Lead In and Lead out cause collisions?

Simulations

  1. No collisions
  2. Check for plunge moves
  3. Reasonable Comparison to model

Posting

  1. Correct Post selected?

Dust boot

  1. Appropriate material for dust extraction?
  2. Risk of Dust book collision during cutting?

Workpiece holdown

If using vacum:

  1. perform "PUSH test"
  2. isolate wastebord as needed with plastic sheets ensuring gantry clearance

If using clamps:

  1. double check toolpath strategies for collision with clamps

If using screws

  1. Check for sufficient Screw hold down

20. Check Waste board for underside airgap

21. Check Simulation for sufficient space for screws
