The Collab is a robotic experimentation and teaching space supporting coursework and research focused on digital fabrication and automation. It houses two UR5 robotic arms configured for drawing, painting, foam cutting, metal pressing, clay stamping and sculpting, and FDM 3D printing, enabling a wide range of material and process exploration. The space also includes a UR20 set up for large-format FDM printing, allowing for the production of full-scale prototypes and advanced additive manufacturing research.
In addition, the Collab contains two KUKA iiwa robotic arms mounted to dedicated fixture tables, supporting precision manipulation, tooling experiments, and advanced fabrication workflows.
Robotic workflows are developed and controlled through Grasshopper, integrating parametric modelling with machine control. The Collab supports research projects and specific courses that embed robotic fabrication into their curriculum, providing technical guidance in workflow development, end-effector setup, programming, and safe robotic operation.
