ENG Makerspaces

About

Located in the Engineering Faculty

The Engineering Makerspaces include three separate Makerspaces within the UNSW Kensington Campus. Each Makerspace is fitted with basic hand tools and power tools, measuring equipment and soldering stations, in addition to specialist machinery and tools depending on the space.

The James N Kirby Makerspace made possible through the generous donation from The Kirby Foundation is set to become the largest makerspace on campus with over 350 metres squared of workshop space. The focus of the James N Kirby Makerspace is on providing students with access to the latest tools and technology paired with comprehensive training opportunities. The machinery and tools within the James N Kirby Makerspace specialises in metal machining and turning, along with other metalworking tools.

The Elec Makerspace is the 3D Printing and Electronics Hub within the Engineering Makerspaces. There are more than 25 3D Printers available for student use, spanning three different 3D Printing technologies. In addition, there are also extensive electronics prototyping and testing facilities available for your next project!

The Renewables Makerspace is the home to the ChallENG Program Student Projects. Ranging from rockets to drones, this Makerspace houses our students innovations to contend in worldwide competitions.
