Screen set-up and Registration

GG01 is our paper printing studio while GG02 is our textile printing studio.

Never be afraid to ask for help if there’s anything that you aren’t sure about. Technicians are there for help and advice at any stage of printing.

SCREEN SET-UP FOR PRINTING

Tape off any areas of your screen that you don’t want to print. Blue masking tape is best for this. For larger areas use newspaper and tape on the flat mesh side (not printing side). Leave only the area you want to print exposed. Check for pin holes in the emulsion coating (areas that are missing from the coating that you don't want, and will let ink through) and cover these with tape.

Attach snap to the frame in the corners of the screen nearest to you. Card squares are cut (stored on the shelves in a plastic tub) and we recommend taping two to each of the bottom corners of the screen.

Attach your screen to the print board using the clamps. The flat side of the screen should be flat against the board.

Prepare your inks, paper, squeegee and squeegee holder, spatula, acetate sheet for registration and tape.
