Rooted in traditional techniques and centred on hands-on, process-driven making, the studio offers a rich analogue experience - enabling students to create original artworks through repeatable, edition-based methods.
Open to all skill levels, the Printmaking Studio welcomes both newcomers and those looking to deepen their existing practice. Operated as part of The Making Centre, the studio brings together four core processes - Intaglio, Relief, Planography and Stencilling - across a series of connected workshop spaces.
Whether you're interested in etching, woodcut, linocut, engraving, letterpress, lithography, monotypes, collagraphy, papermaking, bookbinding, screen printing or more, our team is here to support you. It’s a space with deep roots and an eye on the future - where every print is part of an evolving story.
The Printmaking Studio is equipped with industry-standard presses and professional-grade tools, ensuring students can work with the highest quality materials and machinery. From traditional etching presses to state-of-the-art screen printing setups, the space provides everything needed to produce precise, detailed, and professional prints - supporting both experimental projects and polished final works.
Relief and planographic printing methodologies are celebrated by the facility’s ornate Lithography and Letterpress Studio. This resilient, skylit workspace is adorned with antique cast-iron printing presses and highlights a greener focus on user-friendly procedures. It presents students with instruments intrinsic to woodcut, linocut, lithography, and letterpress. Additionally, laser engravings or custom typography can be attained at The Makerspace.
