TestLAB Safety Badge - RMF

This reading module requires users to review and acknowledge the TestLAB Risk Management Form (RMF) before attending the TestLAB Safety Badge induction.

The RMF for the Building 20 laboratory area identifies the hazards, controls, and safety requirements relevant to working in the TestLAB environment.

Users must understand that work in TestLAB is supported by briefing, induction, safe work procedures, regular checks and inspections, and the use of appropriate PPE. The RMF also makes clear that users must complete or read the relevant risk assessment, follow applicable SWPs, and undertake training and inductions where required before using equipment or undertaking activities in the space.

Completion of this module confirms that the user has read and understood the TestLAB RMF and agrees to work in accordance with the identified hazards, controls, local procedures, staff directions, and required PPE.

This module must be completed before attending the 45-minute in-person TestLAB induction.

TestLAB Safety Badge - Induction

This practical module requires users to attend and complete the TestLAB Safety Induction in person.

The induction introduces users to the TestLAB environment, safety expectations, and operational procedures required when working within the facility. TestLAB contains specialised equipment used for materials testing, structural testing, environmental testing, and experimental research activities.

During the induction, participants will be introduced to:

  • TestLAB access rules and permitted activities
  • General laboratory safety expectations and responsibilities
  • Hazard awareness associated with materials testing and experimental equipment
  • Safe behaviour around testing rigs and high-load experimental systems
  • Emergency procedures and incident reporting processes
  • Expectations for maintaining a safe and organised testing environment

Completion of this induction confirms that the user understands how to safely work within TestLAB and follow the procedures required by the facility.

This module must be completed after reviewing the TestLAB Terms of Use.

Completion of this module will grant the TestLAB Safety Badge, which is required before any TestLAB equipment or facilities can be used. Additional equipment-specific inductions may still be required before operating individual TestLAB machines.
