ProtoLAB

Located within UNSW Canberra ADFA Campus, Building 17, Level 1

ProtoLAB is the entry-level to advanced-level makerspace at UNSW Canberra at ADFA Campus, designed to support coursework, research prototyping and personal innovation projects across all disciplines.

Access to ProtoLAB requires completion of the Makerspace Safety Badge @ ADFA, which covers essential safety knowledge and respectful use of shared equipment.

The space provides a hands-on environment where students and staff can explore design ideas, develop prototypes, and build practical skills using industry-relevant tools and technologies.

Within ProtoLAB, users have access to:

  • Prusa FDM 3D Printers
  • 3D Scanner
  • Electronics testing equipment
  • Soldering stations
  • Hand and portable power tools

Fully trained Student Manufacturing staffs are available to guide users, provide safety oversight, and assist with technical questions.

ProtoLAB serves as a gateway to more advanced fabrication spaces and machine-specific badge pathways.

Where are we located?

ProtoLAB located at the UNSW Canberra ADFA campus (Building 17, Level 1), it provides a modern environment for digital fabrication and prototyping. The space supports students and researchers with access to advanced manufacturing tools, enabling hands-on learning, experimentation and project development.
