The Desktop CNC Machines (Carvera & Carvera Air) are an entry-level 3-axis CNC hybrid router/mill designed for accurately machining flat, softer materials such as timber, plastics and foam. It provides greater precision and repeatability than conventional hand tools, making it ideal for learning and light-duty machining applications.

The steps to achieving access to the badge are as follows:

1. Read and Acknolwedge the Safe Work Procedure (SWP) | The SWP outlines the key risks and hazards associated with operating this machine.

2. Complete the Desktop CNC CAM Activity independently | Completion of a CAM assessment is required before gaining access to the machine, it will provide you with many core skills to apply to your projects in the future. An image of the CAM component can be seen below.

3. Obtain CAM approval from a supervisor | CAM reviews for this induction usually take 10-15 minutes due to the simplicity of the design and operation choice. Please stick to the tutorials closely.

4. Complete the practical Desktop CNC induction | Once the CAM is approved, you'll be invited for an in-person induction depending on your availability (30-40 mins).

5. Gain independent machine access | After successfully passing the induction, you may book a Desktop CNC Machine and use it for your own projects.
