Welcome to Chemical Engineering Laboratories!

Chem Eng Entry Badge

Welcome to Chemical Engineering Laboratories! This basic online learning badge provides an introduction to the University's laboratory safety requirements and the fundamental safety practices that apply across Chemical Engineering research laboratories.  

As part of your work in our laboratories, you will regularly use the following systems:

  1. SALUS – Risk Management and Incident Reporting    
  2. ChemAlert – Safety Data Sheets (SDS)  

This is an online-only learning program and is the first step towards obtaining laboratory access. 

After completing this induction, you will need to:

1. Complete your Risk Management Form (RMF)

Work with your supervisor to prepare and complete your Risk Management Form (RMF) in SALUS.

2. Submit your Laboratory Induction Request

Check with your supervisor which laboratory spaces you require access to, then submit the Chemical Engineering Laboratory Induction Request Form:

3. Book your Face-to-Face Induction

Once your supervisor has approved your request, you'll receive an email with a link to book your face-to-face induction with the Technical Team.

Choose a session that suits you and complete your booking.

4. Attend your Laboratory Induction

Attend your scheduled face-to-face induction.

Please:

  • Arrive on time.
  • Wear fully enclosed shoes.
  • Bring any required PPE if advised.

Your laboratory access will only be granted once you have successfully completed all required training and inductions.
