Digital Fabrication Badge introduces users to Laser Cutting and 3D Printing.
This badge is for students within the Arts, Design and Architecture Faculty.

Learn practical Digital Fabrication skills in this 90 minute group badge training session designed for students studying within the Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture.

For students within other faculties (e.g. Engineering) please head to the following page here for training and access to machines.

Machine Access

Once you have learnt this badge you will be granted access to the following machines:

  • Composites 3D Printer
  • Laser Cutter (Flexx 360)
  • Laser Cutter (Speedy 300)
  • Laser Cutter (Speedy 360)
  • Laser Cutter (Speedy 400)
  • Laser Cutter (Speedy 500)
  • Resin 3D Printers

Safe Work Procedure (SWP)

Please read the Safe Work Procedures document at the link below. You will be asked to enter your zID and zPass to access the document. Click the "Declare As Read" button on the SafeSys website (Warning website for Safesys is very slow), then check the declaration below on this page and press Submit.

Practical Component
Badge Training

Duration: 1.5 hours. Users will learn the processes for both laser cutting and 3D printing.

Important information: 

  1. Closed shoes must be worn and long hair must be tied back
  2. Please arrive 10 minutes before the session start time, if you arrive late you will be asked to come back at another session. 
  3. Our Dig Fab Badge training is highly sought after and very limited. If you can not make the class, please make sure to cancel your registration so others can take your place. 
  4. Please note: Minimum 6 people per class, maximum 12. If the minimum is not reached, the course in that time slot will be cancelled and you will need to reschedule.
